"Awful on mobile this year"
I tried filing from my phone this year it was a nightmare. The pages kept freezing, the buttons were way too small, and every time I went to type in numbers the screen would jump around. I ended up having to re-enter the same stuff multiple times, which got old really fast.
I also tried getting help, but it felt like I was stuck in a support loop where I kept getting sent to the same basic articles and prompts without actually solving anything. Maybe it runs better on a laptop, but the mobile version felt unfinished. After about an hour of fighting with it, I gave up
"Freezes right when you need it not to"
This was so frustrating. The site froze on me twice, and of course it happened right when I was working on my return. Then I lost everything, which is just... no. I kept thinking maybe it was my browser, but other sites were fine, and I don’t have time to redo the same stuff over and over. Not using it again.

TaxSlayer was fine to use, and maybe part of it is on me because I probably didn’t pay close enough attention to the add-ons at first. I went in thinking it would be cheaper than the other tax sites, but by the time I was done, I paid more than I expected. It’s usable, but for me personally, it didn’t feel like a great value.

TaxSlayer worked well overall, but the data import was kind of hit or miss for me. Some of my W-2 info pulled in fine, which was nice, but I still had to go back, fix a few boxes, and double-check everything just to be safe. It did save me SOME time, but not as much as I was hoping. Not a bad experience, just wish the import part was smoother.

"Identity check was such a hassle"
I don’t know, the whole identity verification thing was just... really frustrating. I had to do it like three times, and somehow it still kept failing. I reached out to support, but they weren’t exactly helpful either. I did finally get in eventually, but it basically ate up my whole evening for something that should’ve taken a few minutes.

I was trying to find one of my tax forms and ended up contacting support. The person I talked to was nice and did eventually point me in the right direction, but getting a clear answer took way longer than I expected. It felt like one of those situations where you’re forced to be patient even though you just want to get it done. Not terrible, just slow. I finished everything in the end, so 3 stars seems about right.

I used taxslayer for my taxes this year, and overall I felt comfortable with it, especially when it came to my personal info. I’m always a little nervous putting tax details online because it’s not just basic stuff, it’s Social Security numbers, income info, bank details, all of that, so I pay attention to whether a site makes me feel secure or not. The login process felt solid to me, and nothing about it seemed sketchy or rushed. They also explain the privacy and security stuff in a way that was understandable enough, not perfect, but not confusing either. I do think a few of the security or account settings could be easier to find, because I had to click around more than I expected, but once I found what I needed, it was fine. I wouldn’t say it was flawless, but I did feel safe enough using it and didn’t spend the whole time worrying about my information

I had to reach out for some audit support, they were helpful! It did take a little while to get everything answered... but once they got back to me, the info was clear and useful.

"Refund Took Way Longer Than I Expected"
Filing itself was fine, not too complicated or anything. But wow, the refund wait was frustrating. I kept checking for updates like every other day because I had no idea what was going on. It did finally come through, so that’s good, but the timing really could’ve been clearer. Like, just give people a better heads-up so we’re not sitting there wondering if something went wrong

It did a good job explaining deductions in a way that actually made sense. i kind of regret not using it earlier because it would’ve saved me some confusion.

I’ve used TaxSlayer before and I remember it being a little more straightforward, so this time around was kind of disappointing. It still worked okay overall, but the menus didn’t feel as clear as they used to.
I spent more time than I expected clicking around trying to figure out how to edit forms or jump back to earlier sections. A few buttons felt tucked away, and some of the wording on certain pages made me second-guess where I was supposed to go next.
I did get my taxes finished, so it’s not like the whole thing was terrible. It just felt clunkier than before and more frustrating than it needed to be, especially if you don’t already know where everything is.

"Support was slower than I expected"
I had a question and thought I’d hear back quickly, but then I was just kind of waiting around with no real update, which got frustrating. When support finally did reply, it was fine, I guess, but basic and not super helpful. The tax side of things seemed okay, so that part wasn’t really the issue for me. It’s more the support experience that could definitely use some work.

"Mostly Fine, If You Don’t Mind Double-Checking Everything"
TaxSlayer was easy to use overall, and I did manage to get through my return without a major headache, so there’s that. Some of the steps were clear enough, but a few screens were unnecessarily confusing and had me going back to make sure I hadn’t messed something up. It technically works fine, I just expected it to feel a little more straightforward. Not terrible, but definitely not as smooth as it could be.

TaxSlayer got the job done, so there’s that. But the tax credit guidance felt basic, like it was trying really hard not to be too helpful. I still ended up Googling a few things just to feel confident I wasn’t messing anything up. Not a disaster, but definitely not the hand-holding I was hoping for

The federal filing was fine, but the state return was a mess for me. The site made it sound like everything would be simple and guided, but the help pages were way too vague and didn’t actually tell me what to do when I got stuck. I kept ending up on the same screens over and over, getting more frustrated each time. it felt like I paid extra just to deal with more stress. I wouldn’t use it for state taxes again

"Felt like it was dragging on forever"
The filing process took way too long. It kept loading and stalling, and after a while I started wondering if they make it slow on purpose so you’ll give up or pay for extra help. Not a great experience.

"Refund estimate felt a little misleading"
TaxSlayer was easy to use overall, but my refund amount changed after I filed and it wasn’t what I thought I was getting. I trusted the number it showed me, so seeing it come out different was frustrating. It kind of made me wonder if the estimate is made to look better upfront just to keep you moving through the process.
